D-DAY BILINGUAL MASTERCLASS.

Discover our D-DAY Masterclass. You’re American, English or Canadian, and you want to visit the D-Day beaches in Normandy, this Bilingual Masterclass in French and English is for you. Immerse yourself in the Battle of Normandy with our bilingual masterclass in French and English on the Allied landing beaches on June 6, 1944.

This Masterclass made up of 10 online courses offers the following themes in terms of learning French (the masterclass is bilingual French and English).

Preparing for your trip to France:

The objective is to acquire all the basic vocabulary for your arrival and travels in France, as well as for your life in France.

• Facilitating your arrival in France: arrival at the airport, passing through customs, taking a taxi from the airport to your hotel, checking in at the hotel, ordering and paying at the restaurant, asking for essential information (directions, public services).
• Getting around in France: booking a train, knowing who to ask at the station, renting a car, communicating at highway rest areas…

Discovering the history of the D-Day landings:

The objective is to encourage your oral expression, understanding of terms related to the Normandy landings and Operation Overlord, and to give you an overview of the history of D-Day, which you can further explore on your own once in Normandy.

• Discussion on the reasons for visiting Normandy to see the D-Day beaches.
• Presentation of Operation Overlord and its objectives.
• The Americans, the British, and the Canadians in Normandy.
• The history of the D-Day beaches, Sainte Mère l’Eglise, Colleville sur Mer, and the historical sites to visit.
• The 101st Airborne Division in Normandy.
• The battle of Pointe du Hoc.
• The Normandy D-DAY on social media.

Discovering the Normandy region and its gastronomy:

The objective is to introduce you to the Normandy region and its culinary specialties.

• Organic farming in Normandy.
• Culinary specialties of Normandy.
• Norman crêpes.
• Normandy cider.

TEACHING MATERIALS:

For each class, you will receive an email after the course with all teaching materials, such as Google Documents, audio or video files, websites… Our audio files in French about D-DAY can be listened at different speeds and an English translation is provided.

• Package of 10 online classes.
• Class duration: 50 minutes.
• Class on Google Meet.
• Rescheduling / cancellation: at least 24 hours before the class.
